The segregation of the human race has been evident since the beginning of time.We have the class system in France in the 19th century whereby people are classfied into different classes known as the clergy, the bourgeoisie, the artisans and lastly the peasants..In India you have what is known as the caste system. In our "so called" democratic Singapore, we profess to have equal rights for all and special privileges for none..Do we really practice what we preach?
Segregating humans into some sort of class system degrade their morale and act as a catalyst for the whole rat race to begin..Some may feel that they can "defy the odds" and succeed, others may resign to their fate. Some feel compelled to change their fate..While others sit back and put the responsiblity of changing their fate in God's hand...the minute somthing goes wrong..they are quick to point their fingers to the Almighty...Face it..there will be some sort of "class sytem" whether we condone it or not.. The bitchslap of reality is harsh..either we learn to cope with it or forever be stuck in our little deluded world of fantasy....
Take for example our school system in Singapore..students are streamed at a tender age of 10..Can we justify that at the age of 10, our minds matured enough to undertake this streaming process? What may seem to be an innocuous measure to test the child may prove fatal...cases of child as young as 12 committing suicide are getting common these days... What about people who are labelled as "late bloomers" Wouldnt they be deprived of an equal opportunity to strive in the academic area? Wouldnt it be too late by they time these people finally matured? How can the assess of academic intelligence determines the child's ability to succeed in the future?Does the failure to achieve excellent academic results prove that a child is deemed to be inane? What about the assess of EQ? Isnt that as important? or how about the assess of other abilities like in the area of music, the arts or sports? Probably what we overlooked have somehow
KILLED
the opportunity for another child to fulfill his dreams...
We are no God..therefore we are in no position to judge how SMART a child really is...For every gift that HE bestowed upon you..You would still remain imperfect..so why ruminate on what you dont have but rather rejoice for the other gifts you have been endowed with...So may it be the "class system" or "caste system", we are living in a world of imperfections..It's either you live with it or change it within your means...
Speak Lord, your servant is listening...
